Epson Perfection 610U
Epson, better known for its printers, entered the Indian scanner market recently. The 610 targets the home market and offers a combination of features, good image quality and ease of use. Installation is smooth, thanks to the USB interface, and the uncluttered front-end is extremely usable. The options are limited, however, to a simple choice between two quality modes, although you can also de-screen, unsharpen and otherwise edit your digitised image without needing an image editor. Popular packages like Adobe PhotoDeluxe and Presto! PageManager are bundled with the scanner. Even with the USB interface, the 610 did exceedingly well and compared favourably to some SCSI scanners. The perfectly reproduced details from Perfection 610 would make it popular with both professionals and home users.
